animal endangered of extinction for a biology paper?!? Please Help
? I have to write a paper on an animal that is becoming extinct for my biology paper. I have to answer the following questions: 1. Name one species that is on the endangered list for extinction. 2. Describe its natural habitat/location. 3. Describe the climate of its natural habitat. 4. How does it survive? 5. Explain why it is becoming extinct. 6. Is anything being done to prevent the organism from becoming extinct? If yes, describe what is being done. I wanted to do Polar Bears, because they are my favorite animal. Is this a good animal to do? Would I be able to find all of this information fairly easy and be able to write a good paper? If not what are some other suggested animals to do the paper on? *Remember, the animal has to be in danger of extinction. I was also thinking Elephants, because I also love elephants

Polar bears were classified as a threatened species in 2008 which means that they are vulnerable to becoming an endangered species later on. So this basically means that they aren’t in any immediate danger of becoming extinct but the threat is definitely there. I think that if you really wanted to do the polar bear it should be fine, but maybe choosing an animal that’s already endangered may be a better choice.

Polar bears eat seals, not fish, but the seals eat fish, so in that way I guess you could say that fishing is bringing them closer to extinction. The main problem for polar bears is the dwindling polar ice cap – in other words – the warming trend presently obvious in the high arctic. Polar bears hunt for seals from the ice, so less ice, less hunting territory for bears.
not many animals live in the same area as polar bears, that’s why they sit on the ice by a hole and “fish” out of it. when the fish popluation decreases, so does their food supply. And polar bears aren’t the fastest creatures, making it hard for them to catch jackrabbits and the other small, but faster, land animals.

Well, if you OVERfish our seas (which the fishing industry is doing) it is REMOVING the main food source for polar bears. if they don’t have enough food, they starve – and that is how fishing kills polar bears.
How can we possibly save the polar bear from extinction? 1- (How) can we still prevent all the Arctic ice from melting? 2- What if too much Arctic ice disappears… ?
Quit believing everything you read. This whole thing is political maneuvering and very little more. If it happens, it happens. It’s too bad but that’s the way it is, just like earthquakes in California. that’s a bigger threat than the polar bears having to move to dry land. What are we going to do about the earthquakes? Nothing! Why not? Because nothing can be done. It’s the earth’s doing and for a few simple minded, politically indentured, self recognition absorbed, so called scientists and politicians to be so arrogant as to try to convince the people this is something we’re responsible for, or can fix, is CRAP!! I am so SICK of hearing about this.
Cut down on our waste, it seems like a small measure but it does a lot if everyone just took the time to do it. Recycling is something that should become mandatory in all nations. Fishing laws also should be something that the government and all other parties involved should be looking at seriously as overfishing leads to starvation. Last but not least donating to conservation groups to help the fight.
Effect of Extinction? What effect, if any, does the extinction of polar bears have on humans? I know other species, such as honey bees becoming extinct, has a very large impact, but what about losing a species due to global warming (even if you believe it’s nonexistent)? Biodiversity decreases. Polar bears, eat seals. Assume polar bears go extinct, there are now more seals, because there’s one less predator to hunt the seals. Now what the seals eat, will decrease in population, so say a type of fish reduces in population, then people cannot eat that type of fish as often. It doesn’t seem that significant, but let it grow over time… and see what happens.
Yes. Why? because, the warm air causes the ice caps to melt, and polar bears live on those ice caps. Studies show in the next 100 years, Polars Bears could/will be extinct as the ice capse are melting pretty rapidly and once they melt, it will be nothing but water.
